Fifie
Reaper
Often called a Fifie by locals (meaning a Fife boat). This boat is of great interest because of its unususal design. It appears to have two masts but on closer inspection the rear mast is in fact a crane to lift fish. Hence its slightly slanting position.
Behind on the quayside is Fisheries Museum which attracts many visitors.

The Reaper was built as a Sailing Herring Drifter with no mechanical means of propulsion. This style of boat was popular on the East Coast of Scotland. She took part in The Parade of Sail at Leith 1995.

Steering
These shots show the detail of the unusual steering design. The steering position is as near to the stern as possible to maximise the space on deck.
